Custom Private DC Tours

Multi-Day · Student Groups · Corporate · Special Occasions

A custom private DC tour package is for the trips that don't fit a template. You tell us what you want to see, who's coming, and how long you've got, and we build the route. Most custom bookings end up as one of three patterns: a multi-day DC tour for visiting families, a student-group itinerary for 8th-grade DC trips, or a corporate outing bolted onto a board dinner. Special occasions (anniversaries, milestone birthdays, proposals at the Tidal Basin) are common too.

How a custom DC tour gets built

Most clients arrive with a rough list of must-see stops. We turn that into an order that minimizes drive time and hits each spot at the right time of day. Morning light at Jefferson. Mount Vernon before the bus crowds at noon. Iwo Jima at sunset. If you want to deviate mid-tour, just tell the chauffeur. They've been running these routes for years and the alternate options are real, not guesses. See the Customize Your Tour package →

Multi-day DC tours

Multi-day tours run 2 to 5 days. A typical 3-day visiting-family itinerary covers the National Mall monuments on day one, the Smithsonian museums and Capitol on day two, and Mount Vernon plus Old Town Alexandria on day three. Add Gettysburg or Annapolis for day four. We can also add evening pickups for dinner reservations or theater. The chauffeur is the same person across all days. Your group gets to know them, they learn your preferences.

Student groups + corporate outings

For 8th-grade DC trips, the tour is usually 8 hours and covers monuments, the Capitol perimeter, Mount Vernon, and a stop at the National Museum of African American History. We see about a hundred school groups each spring. Corporate outings are usually a 4-hour sightseeing block in the afternoon before a board dinner: sedans or stretch limos depending on team size. Special occasions: proposals, anniversaries, milestone birthdays

Proposals at the Tidal Basin are a recurring request, usually around cherry blossom season. The logistics aren't complicated, but the timing matters. The chauffeur knows which spots along the basin have the best sightlines at different times of day, and we can coordinate a slow drive-by before the stop so the moment is set up properly. Anniversaries and milestone birthdays follow a similar pattern: a tour of meaningful DC spots, a restaurant reservation at the end, and no one watching the meter.

The special occasion DC tour is the starting point for this kind of booking. If the occasion needs a larger vehicle, the white 18-passenger Hummer limousine is available for groups that want something more distinctive. Browse the fleet page for options.

What size group can do a custom DC tour

Custom tours scale from one person in a luxury sedan to a 55-passenger coach for a large school or corporate group. Most custom bookings land somewhere in the middle: 4 to 13 people in a stretch limo or Mercedes Sprinter. For groups of 14 or more, we can pair two vehicles or move to the executive mini-bus. The right vehicle depends on how much time you want to spend at each stop versus in transit: a Sprinter with 13 people can park and walk in ways a coach bus can't.

Can a corporate offsite include a DC tour

Often. The typical pattern is a half-day of meetings, then a 3-to-4-hour monuments-and-monuments tour before a dinner reservation somewhere in Georgetown or Penn Quarter. Teams of 6 to 10 usually use a stretch limo; 11 to 16 use a Sprinter. We've also run heritage-focused corporate offsites for diversity leadership programs, where the African American heritage route pairs with a catered lunch. If the team is larger, the coach handles everyone in one vehicle. See the corporate outing package for the standard format, or call and describe what you want.

What's in a multi-day DC tour itinerary

The multi-day DC tour is the most flexible package we offer. A 3-day visiting-family version typically covers monuments and the Mall on day one, the Smithsonian museums and Capitol Hill on day two, and Mount Vernon plus Old Town Alexandria on day three. Gettysburg or Annapolis can replace or extend day three. We handle the routing between hotels, restaurants, and sites, and the chauffeur is consistent across all days so your group doesn't have to re-explain preferences each morning.

Families traveling with seniors particularly like the multi-day format because it paces the walking. Each day can include rest breaks and vehicle downtime without rushing to cover everything in one go. Call (202) 609-9811 to talk through a multi-day itinerary. We answer 24/7.

Do you build custom DC itineraries from scratch

Yes. If none of the packages match what you have in mind, the Customize Your Tour option is a blank slate. Tell us: who's coming, how many days, which sites are non-negotiable, what time you typically start the day, and whether there are any mobility considerations. We'll send back a proposed route with timing. Most custom itineraries take one call and one email exchange to finalize. There's no extra fee for the planning work. We build it into the booking. The National Mall and Memorial Parks visitor guide lists hours and access details for every major stop.
