The limo is able to park very close to each monument, much closer than we could have if we had driven ourselves. The driver was polite and helpful. Wear comfortable shoes because, despite the proximity to the monuments, there is still a lot of walking involved in exploring the monuments themselves. We did our tour at night and the monuments are gorgeous when lit for evening. The driver can tell you a few facts about each monument, but he was not a "certified tour guide" so if you want that much detail, this is not the tour to take. But if you want to see DC in absolute comfort, this is the way to do it. The limo will pick you up at your specified address in DC, drive you for four hours to the monuments on their list which is customizable, and then drop you back off at your specific DC address. If you want something to drink or eat, bring it yourself as only waters are provided in the limo. Definitely worth the money. Best way ever to see DC!!!★★★★★

In the limo there was free water bottle and ice with cups, which was refreshing on a hot day. We could choose the music we wanted to listen to through a cell phone the limo driver provided. There were some times the music was a bit loud, but either through the cell phone or a control in the car, the volume can be adjusted. It was also fun to watch people outside the limo as they were taking pictures of our vehicle (the hummer limo) just was much as some of the sites. If you are planning a tour of DC, I would recommend taking the personalized limo tour for comfort and you can choose how long you staying at each site and where to go. This is the way to go! It was raining very hard but he had umbrellas ready, let us know the walk time to certain up close views to make sure we were prepared (all were short walks less than 5 mins and nothing hard to get to just not able to drive the limo all the way up to some which was totally understandable) but also made stops if needed (bathroom and quick food pick ups). We were out for a full four hours which left time to just drive around and see the city and enjoy the limo. The MLK Memorial is the newest of the major Tidal Basin monuments and the first to honor an African American on the National Mall. It is built to be read as much as viewed: the Stone of Hope steps forward out of a split granite Mountain of Despair, and a 450-foot curved wall behind it carries 14 of Dr. King’s own quotations. On a private tour the chauffeur handles the route and the legal stopping points, so your group walks straight up to the statue, reads the wall, and takes in the sightline that links Lincoln to one side and Jefferson to the other.
What is the MLK Memorial and why visit it?
The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial honors the civil rights leader who advanced racial equality and justice through nonviolent action and delivered the 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech a short walk away at the Lincoln Memorial. ROMA Design Group designed the four-acre site, sculptor Lei Yixin carved the central figure, and it opened in 2011 as the 395th unit of the National Park Service. People visit for the scale of the Stone of Hope, the inscribed wall of quotations, and the memorial’s deliberate place on the Tidal Basin.
The design carries its meaning in stone. The central figure is the Stone of Hope, which steps forward out of the Mountain of Despair behind it, drawn directly from the speech line, “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” Even the address is symbolic: 1964 Independence Avenue SW, the number chosen for the year of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Standing between the split mountain and the curved Inscription Wall is the part most photos miss.

What can you see at the MLK Memorial at night?
After dark the MLK Memorial takes on a quieter weight. Up-lighting catches the Stone of Hope and the split faces of the Mountain of Despair, throwing the carved figure of Dr. King into relief against the night. The 450-foot Inscription Wall reads differently under artificial light, and with the daytime crowds gone the words carry more.
The memorial is open 24 hours, so a night visit is a real option on our DC Night Tour, which covers the same Tidal Basin circuit after sunset. From the basin shore the lit Jefferson dome sits across the water and the Washington Monument rises to the north, so the MLK stop folds into a wider after-dark loop.
